Hey Emily! Thanks for your response. I touched on this a bit in what I said above. The reality is that white women have the luxury of writing self-focused, "self-help" style books on their lives, relationships, marriages, divorces, and improving themselves in a way Black women simply don't. Black women put words to a page as if it is the last thing they will ever write, and that re-orients us toward the work of justice. It is a hard-hitting feminism in a way popular white women are not offering. I didn't compare them, because there is no comparison. Which is exactly the point.
