Hi Ann, Yes, Queer is actually a very appropriate term to use for the LGBTQ+ community. It is inclusive and a broad descriptor. Gay and lesbian is not inclusive by a long shot. So either queer, or LGBTQ+ are more appropriate. The tricky thing about the word queer is that it’s both an identity (like I illustrated), and a category (as I touched on). In this case, I’m using the latter. By the way, gay and lesbian people can *also* identify as queer, but not all do. Thanks for writing in.
