I appreciate this point. And yes, I've read all of the things you name here, but that actually makes my point. These are deep, soaring, beautiful, and in some cases practical books that are rooted in an element of survival (alongside love, marriage, divorce, humanity etc). I wasn't arguing at all that Black women don't write about those things, but that they do not have the luxury of writing about them in the navel gazing way white women who hit the NYT bestseller lists do.

The white lady feelings industrial complex is very real, and very profitable. Racism in publishing is also very real, and unfortunately very profitable (see: Robin Diangelo making hundreds of thousands of dollars off of work Black women have been doing for years).
